I have a 6 y.o arab mare called Lana, I have owned her since she was 2 and I bought her for endurance. She has always been a lazy horse which drives me mad sometimes as I'm used to wizzy horses but recently she has become even more lazy.
She has always had problems with her hindleg giving way when schooling or out hacking, and always had problems going uphills. Just lately she is having difficulty coming down hills and cannot canter on the correct lead on the right rein. Also she is squaring off her toes and sometimes feels odd when I first start trotting.
Now this sounds like she has a bone spavin as these are the things which went wrong with my other mare Zara before she was diagnosed with spavins, but I suppose I've been thinking that surely I couldn't be unlucky enough to have two horses with spavins!
She isn't actually lame as such but I'm having the vet out to x-ray her next week but was just wondering if anyone else thinks it could be spavins or am I just being paranoid?
