My vet has suggested I buy this for my 3 year old (bench knee'ed) filly.

Does anyone else use it and where's the best place to buy it?

Oh, that's handy to know :) Thanks JanetGeorge :)

Definitely! Thanks :) I'll look at that product tomorrow. As I'm looking at using a product for the next 20+ years (hopefully) any small saving would be a godsend. I'm not able to claim on my insurance for anything as mine has a genetic conformational fault.

My vet said today that he thinks very few products like these (equine and human) actually contain what they say. Or at least, not to the levels the blurb suggests. He said someone had tested a bunch of products (human ones I think he said) and they discovered all but 2 or 3 were seriously lacking. And some actually contained nothing of what they claimed! :( He said he only recommended two products but said both were expensive, but in his opinion these two could be trusted to contain what they claimed to. I cannot remember the second one, but Synequin was definitely his first choice. He wasn't trying to sell me any - told me to try and source it online if I wanted to get it.

I currently use an Equimins product (http://www.equimins-online.com/acat...mins_Flexijoint_Cartilage_Supplement_264.html) but can I trust it after the conversation with my vet this morning?!! Who knows. Equimins do guarantee their product, but I'm not sure if that really holds any weight. Also, because I am using it as a prophylactic on a 3 year old - how am I to judge right now whether a product is actually actively working!!!
