I'm about to give in and return to synthetic saddles because I can't find a leather one to fit my horse, none of the saddlers have anything in our size, ever, and i've bought and too many off eBay which i've had to re sell (luckily at a profit each time!) havinghad them adjusted by saddlers etc.

So, looking at the new wintec especially, do I go for black or brown? The rest of my tack is brown, but i've heard the brown synthetic saddles aren't as good looking as the black, plus most people tend to wear black for dressage.

What would you choose?

Personally black every time :D though my current "breaking saddle" is brown. lol

Really depends on what colour your horse is, i personally think chestnut and/or skewbald (chesnut) horses look much better in brown!

I have a brown wintec VSD for my old girl, and i think it looks alright to be honest. New ned is dark bay so will be getting black everything.

If the rest of your tack is brown, then unless you want to change everything, I'd go for brown. Yes black does look smarter for dressage but unless that's all you are going to be doing, stick with what you've got.

Have just had my Wintec adjusted today after 12 weeks and my 5 year old has gone from a medium fit straight to a wide bypassing the medium wide. They are really quite an amazing feat of engineering and was fascinated watching saddler 'sort it'!

Just hoping he'll grow into my Albion dressage saddle at some point or else I will be on Ebay too!

I don't really want to change everything if I can help it, but a saddle is the biggest investment so I just want to make sure I choose it right!

Have managed to find a pic or two of the new wintecs in brown and they are much darker than the brown thorowgoods, so that helps me a little!

Nicnac, that's crazy, in 12 weeks! Although mine has put some beef on since I upped her feed and gave her some grass...!

Would be great to see your pics, if you have any!

Brown every time ... and with a chestnut, definitely brown!

I have a wintec 2000 and Isabelle Werth and love them :D

I have the wintec dressage in brown for my chestnut mare with 2 white socks! I was going to get black as that is what all of my other tack is but once I saw it i liked the brown better!x

Gillian - I can't get your link to work for some reason, it just takes me to my own Facebook page! Gutted!

Thanks naughtynes, I think i'll stick with brown, it suits her much better!

Everything I have for 4 horses is black (incl DR).. I am told repeatedly that my Clevelands must be in brown/Havana when they are old enough for tack..

Depends what you're doing.. I prefer black personally :)
