Have been told that riding my 17hh Irish draught in my wintec saddle in working hunter and riding classes I will be marked down for my saddle not being leather!!???? I'm just starting out at local shows but have experienced some that don't even mark down for horses not being plaited and some that are very strict even at "have a go at working hunter"! Am I going to be penalised for his saddle and in riding classes????

I think you have probably answered your own question - some judges will see it differently to others like they do with plaiting.

If its a brown synthetic and not too forward cut it may not stick out like a sore thumb

I personally wouldnt be replacing any synthetic saddle just for local shows, you will get to know what venue or what local judges to avoid

At local level I think you should be fine, especially as its brown.

I got placed my first attempt at a County level coloured class in a black throwogood, and the judge rode on it too!
