What on earth is happening? Today, New year's eve-eve, I have just gone and bathed the grey horse at 8.30am... wearing a T shirt.

I am no iron woman, it is genuinely warm enough! The sun is coming up, horses are cosy, rugs are off... Horse was warm enough even when wet, relaxed, total dude.

I did the stable chores, wet from washing, still warm in a T shirt. No hat, no gloves...

I did only do mane/tail and legs, using warm water, but it could have been warm enough for the lot of him. I am cautious because I am menopausal and sometimes not reliable in temps, but no, I don't think that is it.

I am going to grab the moment; first washload on, 2 more to do, and I am going to dry them OUTSIDE!!! I am going to go on a bike ride, hack out, just have a spring type day.

Anyone else with unseasonably sunny, warm, spring weather?

I was shocked when I left the house this morning it was warmer outside than it was in. It said 14 degrees in my car. My fluffy retired pony is itchy and sweaty, I want to give him a tiny clip but keep thinking as soon as I do that it will suddenly go cold and I'd need to find his rugs

I don't like...no, I despise the cold, but this "heat wave" has made some of those bleeping indects return. Why do I have 2 bites in what is nearly January?!

Whatever is going on we’ve had heavy fog pretty much every day for the past 10 days. On the one clear day we hacked but otherwise confined to the school. You can’t even risk a clear spot as it comes in so quickly. I would do anything for a cold, clear day!

Umm, today’s the 30th of December, yes? So it’s not New Year’s Eve until tomorrow.
(I’ll go and put my pedantry away now).
?

Yes, it is, and you can leave your pedantry out, as long as you also get your glasses out ?

Yes, I was out hacking two days ago, in the drizzle, and when I stopped to chat to another horse and rider, we both had midges following us!

Sheets are out, dog fleeces in now (which do get done regularly). I also will do the dog beds (under the fleeces). Was going to leave the actual beds until summer, but heck, they could do with a freshen up!

Horse boots after that.

I never thought I would enjoy washing as much.

*Note to self, next time, buy a washer/dryer!!

My horses are all not rugged - unheard of at this time of year — i keep going on the yard at midnight expecting them to be shivering but when i can walk out at that time in a tee shirt and not return to the house in record time i know theyll be ok… my bulbs are all coming up too…

Slightly windy and drizzly. All the rain has turned the field a lawn into mush, so puppies are black all the way up their legs. Towelling them involves removing the towel from their mouths and turning them over as they roll round ecstatically.

Xmas day 2002 I have photos of us on the beach at Hastings, some in T shirts, none of us in coats. Walked the dog at 8.30 today and it was cold in the wind, very grey, but humid and pretty mild out of the wind - 14C, Suffolk.

14 degrees at 7am here and I had my riding lesson in just a jumper. Then went 40 minutes further south to the north downs and it was raining, blowing a gale and utterly miserable!

Sorry everyone, I think it might be my fault.

Earlier this year, I (who spend nothing on myself ever) invested in some fur lined, cold weather banishing winter boots to protect me from even the coldest frosts. The weather has conspired to make my purchase unnecessary.

Should I ever buy a beautiful coat that isnt completely waterproof you should prepare to buy a boat to live on.

Very warm here. Walked the dogs this morning in normal winter walk wear - hat, coat, wellies and was sweating once back.

It also very muddy here which feels odd when it’s so warm.

My poor garden is sprouting shoots :(

I can remember one Jan in the late 60's when I was working at a RS, taking a ride out and it was such a lovely day I only wore a jumper and no coat. Unheard of for me as I feel the cold so must have been very warm.
