Hi, I have booked a table for a tack sale this saturday that is near me. I was sorting through some of the things I plan to take today and juts wondered what sort of quality people expect at these sort of sales? For example I have a few numnahs I was planning to take but they are a bit worn in places (only slightly). And I have an anti-rub vest that has a rip in it, though I'm sure this could be sewn up. I was only going to ask a few pounds for the more worn items, do you think this is ok? Do people expect a lot of things to be secondhand (have never been to one before!)

When I have been most of the stuff is second hand and often very well used. I would put prices on things as it puts some people off if they have to ask.

Just went to one recently, and there was all sorts - bits, all kinds of leather straps, grazing muzzles, numnahs, rugs, you name it. Loads of stuff for humans too.

A lot was in very used condition, but who cares at the end of the day ? I got a really wide fs hunter noseband for £2, in fairly good nick, and a complete bargain.

Beware of having your stall inundated tho - this one was very busy ;)

Only been to one (and we're organising one for 10th April) it was a mix of second hand and new and price would depend on condition dont forget you can always lower a price if someone queries but can't raise it once told them!

been to one of these recently,

i took loads and not much sold although just depends on the day!

I sold ....2 pairs of safety stirrups at £4 a pair

Some pony leather show reins

My leather gaiters from when i 8/9 (now just turned 17 so not years old) for 10
they were english leather ones

my friend who i was sharing a table with sold a saddle

Things that sold the most were rugs and boots

When i did one i found certain named stuff went really well e.g Ariat, Stubben, Pikeur.
And agree with putting prices on, people seemed to hate asking.

Bring everything as I hate it when I go to sales and ask he they have "such and such" and they say "I have one at home, I was going to bring it!"
Also put prices, I always seem to find stuff on tables where a clueless OH is sitting manning the table but doesn't know the prices and then tries to ring horsey OH on mobile which is switched off!

agree with pricing if you can, it's so annoying to have to wait to ask when there are soooooooo many horsey things around ;)

I bought - a brand new fs greenguard muzzle, priced £25, paid £19

a newish greenguard headcollar and 3 used muzzles/strap sets, priced £10, paid £7.50

Two heather moffatt seatsavers, priced £14, paid £10 :D

This was advertised in the horsey section of the local paper, but they didn't put the damned time on the ad, so we turned up 3 times waiting for it to start (like a good rummage me). Make it very clear about location and time, and go for the local paper and tack shops.

The ones I have been too have been mostly second hand, as well as nearly-new and some new stuff - mainly the sort of things we accumulate over the years!

I picked up some new rubber reins for £9 and a few numnahs - paid from £3 to 50p!

If you need spares or are looking for stuff to try out they're great, and it saves forking out for new stuff which may not be suitable/not get much use
