My three are usually a bit awkward to worm with a syringe and I always wonder just how much of their dose ends up on the floor. Anyway as they aren't on any hard feed yet and powder wormers were out I decided to buy them the new chewable tablet wormers (you all know which ones I mean). To cut a long story short the two ID mares who usually eat any treats offered spit them out into the mud in disgust. The pony looked as though he was eating his but as soon as he bit into them he spit them out as well. I did try hiding them inside pieces of bread after that but I was rumbled. What a waste of money. Does anyone on the forum have a horse that actually likes them?

I have always wondered if horses would eat those, I was thinking of getting them even though they cost a bit more (I have to buy 9 or 10 wormers every time) but I think you have just answered my question!

my horse ate his and asked for more! 2 little ponios spat them out but did eat them in the end... i waited until the end of the day just before i put their hay out when they were hungry! well worth the extra money for me, i loath trying to get the paste down their necks.

When I last wormed my horses with the paste version of the same wormer my supplier gave me placebo tablets for free to see if my horses would eat them or not. It was about 50:50 which horses ate them and which wouldn't. I think i'll be sticking to the paste in future as my horses are all good to worm with paste anyway.

Mine have had them and they loved them like they were treats, as one of the above posts has stated you can get free placebo ones to test if your horse likes them.

The first time I used them they went down a treat, all eaten, no problem. I used the placebos first and they were eaten as well.

Now, we don't as a rule feed treats from the hand, so I reckon they thought, we know the score here!! So, second time, no chance, they wouldn't eat them!!!

Now I put them in the feed, and the fussy ones have a little molasses mixed in, they eat the lot!!

The work out cheaper for me too, as I have tablets left over that I can use next time

I bought them for my yearling who has suddenly developed an aversion to syringes, got some for the oldie too - neither would eat them so I ended up smashing them into a powder and putting in their feed - they ate them then with no problems - go figure!

even the greedy cobs i look after wouldn't eat them. they had one each but wouldn't touch the rest. I had to crush them and hide them in sugarbeet.

Mine do! They take them from my hand like treats.

The only one who was unsure was the little pony who recently died. I just crumbled hers up and mixed it in a feed. She licked the bowl clean.

Did you get the "compromise tablets" with your purchase? I tried those first before I tried the real thing.

First horse I gave them to (who is a greedy whatsit normally) spat them out. I then decided to give a herbal horse treat first, followed by the worming tablets and then had no problem at all! I think the slightly strong herby taste of the initial treat disguised any suspicious taste of the tablets!

Yes, I think they are a godsend. Both of mine ate them up no probs. I put them in a scoop with a handful of their favourite feed and they munched them up very happily.

Which reminds me, I must get some more this weekend!

i did what tgm did, one tablet with herbal treats worked wonders won't go back to using paste again.

I think they're fab. I can give my big lad and my little shettie their wormers and both are treated with one tube of tablets. Both loved them and were looking for more. Far easier than struggling with worming paste/gel in a syringe for him to spit the lot out. Best to try the placebo's first though!

Mine love them! So much more economical as I can do big horsey and little pony with one tube of 8 tablets -similar price to other wormers! Brilliant idea, but I would try the placebos first. My big lad spits out wormer pastes/gels and is generally a pain but with these he just thinks he's getting treats!

Thanks guys sounds a bit like marmite for us humans. They either love them or hate them. My lot aren't on hard feed yet so crushing them and adding to feed is out. I certainly won't be buying them again for my fussy lot.
