Has anyone got any good tips for t&t ? what it usually involves and what the judges generally look for?

Im thinking of taking my horse to our first show Monday as it is local. However we are only half way through our exercise regime from his operation which he had in March this year. We are up to 30mins hack and 20mins trot daily we have done no canter work what so ever so hoping t&t does not involve this. I can find little info on the internet.

Also would the judges hold this against him as we are still working alongside the physio to get him using his backend more as he is still slightly dragging his hoofs. He is not lame as such but the physio said he luks stiff. (this is to be expected after 5months since surgery).

However im not wanting to win just wanting to go to get him out for the morning and see how he behaves. (as well as show him off for the first time) ;-)

The class is actually called 'best condition and turnout horse and rider' therefore not sure if confirmation etc will be looked at.

I also thought about entering him in the 'handsome horse' inhand. This may be the safer option but again not sure what judges actually look for and if his slight stiffness will be held against him :-(

Thanks

T & T Classes are normally just a walk around the ring and then line up , the judge inspects for clenliness and then picks the winners. Seeing as though its called best condition and turnout you may be expecetd to do a little individual show, if you explain to the judge that you dont want to canter and the reason they shouldnt have a problem but it may reflect in your placing. Basically everything just needs to be super clean and neat, dont forget the insides of noseband / browband etc , stirrup treads and bottoms of boots. Also try to turnout to type if you can i.e. hunter wear a tweed jacket and plain browband or hack wear navy jacket and couloured browband. Have fun and good luck !

ok thanks for your advice. He is an hunter type horse (warmblood) - his tack is brown and his bridle is a plain hunter bridle, but I only have a black show jacket so not sure if this will be appropriate ?

Its not strictly correct but im sure it will be ok if its just a local show. Could you perhaps borrow a tweed? You already there with the plain brown hunter bridle and saddle, just one last thing make sure you either use a shaped numnah or no numnah at all as opposed to a dressage or sj square.
