I have always cleaned my tack with warm soapy water and then soaped it using the old fashioned bar and if really dry used oil, with all this cold weather my tack is looking very dried out and although I have cleaned / oiled it, it still looks dull and dry......... HELP...

I used to do that too, have tried the milk with bar soap etc, just goes mouldy, yuk.
I found some stuff called Grand Prix Leather Gloss, I got it from Inches. I think if you google it they have a web site. It makes your tack shiny without feeling sticky.
Who needs patent? Just use this, fab.

Just looked at the web page thanks guys, if its good enough for Ulla and Mary King, I MIGHT invest in pot  although it looks a little more expensive than my usual tack stuff ??? does it last well ??

I also use Grand Prix Leather Gloss, it is brilliant stuff, bought my first pots last Christmas and have never used anything else since, lasts for ages to, brings tack up like new.

Definately would only use Grand Prix Leather Gloss now....started using it about 9 months ago and would not revert to saddle soap ever again. Can use it on all leather and brings my boots up a treat. Brilliant stuff...try it Bolli...you won't be sorry :D

Another vote for Grand Prix Leather Gloss. I have introduced so many people to it since discovering it over a year ago and I don't think I would ever use anything else. I clean all my stored tack with it rather than oiling it as I used to and it stays so soft and supple.

Lots of my friends are non horsey but they have found a use for it for:

leather upholstery in the house and car, gloves, shoes, bags etc etc...it smells really nice and a tub lasts for AGES.

Lots of ticks in lots of boxes for this product!

Gosh, what a lot of people have already found GPLG! I started using it about 18 mths ago and have been rather impressed by it! Does an excellent job, have 2 horses and am only on my 2nd pot, so lasts well, although have also started using it on anything leather so might be using it a bit more quickly in the future.

I also use GPLG but if you haven't used it before make sure you read the instructions as you do not use it like normal saddle soap, make sure you clean the leather with warm water and then use another DRY sponge to put the GPLG on with, if you use the same wet sponge you will have so much soap you wont get rid of it, I think this is why it lasts so long cos you put it on with dry sponge.

Brilliant stuff though I also would not now use anything else, I got it bought for me last Christmas and gave my old stocks of saddle soap away and bought more GPLG.

GPLG for me too!!

Like the above poster said - make sure you use a dry sponge - I made that mistake once!!

Smells lovely too... oh and I had an issue with boots on saddle resulting in lots of squeaking, used the GPLG on saddle & boots & now have no trouble!

I bought 2 tubs one for me and one for a Xmas present, over a year ago. when I tried it I was too mean to give the other tub away! Tho it lasts so long I have barely started that second tub.
I wash the mud of leathers and headcollars, just dry them off a bit with a bit of towel and add the GPLG. No need to oil or anything and they come out shiny too.

I have just received 3 tubs of GPLG......two tubs for pressies and one for me to try myself :) It is really good, has made a difference to my tack with just one application, I have had a cleaning frenzy and anything leather has been GPLG'd :)

well everyone seems to like this GPLB stuff but ive tried loads of products and the best one ive ever had is renapur i cot it from gatcombe but they sold it at your horse live aswell its amazing you dont need to clean it first or rub it off etc lasts for up to 3 yrs aswell
my friend who works at a yard cleaned her ariats with it everyday and it lasted her 2 years

I recently discovered Grand Prix Leather Gloss too - how interesting to see I'm not the only one using it as no one around here seems to :)

I love it - have used it on my tack, boots and leather coat. Love how it smells nice afterwards.

i have used loads of stuff over the years and a showing pal introduced me to gplg- i always think if its good enough for showing folks it s good enough for me :) :) Seriously thou lasts forever and really quick to do.

Bl**dy H*ll !!!! I am broke and Christmas is almost upon us - but having read this I have ordered a tub!!!! They must wonder what is happening with all these orders pouring in!!
