Having spent a rather large amount of today giving my hideously large collection of tack a thorough clean, I got to musing about the hows, whys and what-have-yous of it all and wondered what other people use to clean their tack and why they do so..

For mine I use Carr, Day and Martin Conditioning Soap for removing the dirt/regular cleaning as I like it and feel it gives a nice finish. I then use Effax Leather Balsam every month or two after cleaning to give them a good drink! I don't clean as regularly as I feel I should. Resolution for 2014 = keep tack cleaner!

Thrilling post, I know!

Bridles and girths are cleaned after every use. Not by me though - it's included in our livery. They just use saddle soap and the leather is lovely and soft.

I use saddle soap and then Kao Cho Line or Stubben Hamanol when I do the saddles. They only get done about twice a year at the moment but I try to do them the night before a show.
