Tack cleaning... The best way?

As title really. What do you find is the best way to clean your tack? What cloths, sponges etc do you use?

I currently use Oakwood liquid saddle soap first, then their leather conditioner afterwards but if I'm honest, don't notice a massive difference. :/

Someone on the yard washes their boots down with a sponge and water, towels off then uses Horsemans one step tack cleaner and conditioner and her boots look fab!

Any ideas welcome!

Lol. I quite like doing it, but get annoyed when it hardly looks any different!

You need to wash off any grease and dirt first with a damp sponge or cloth then use either soap or conditioner, not both, soap is conditioning not for cleaning, badly named really as we think of soap as something to clean out hands with, you need to use very little so the tack does not get a thick layer on which will just go dull, a wipe with a dry cloth at the end can help polish it.

Not usually, but I should really. I do if it's for posh

I use tepid water, a sponge and a towel (and a lot of elbow grease) to get the dirt off . . . and then I use Effax Leather Balsam to condition.

I hate tack cleaning and dont do it as often as I should (ever!) but I have made it my new years resolution as both ponies were bought leather saddles recently so I aim to keep them nice, so the more tips the better

bridles-fill a bowl with water and a squirt of washing up liquid..put cloth in then squeeze as much water out as poss and clean all the dirt and grease off with that. Then rub over with a glyerince bar of 'tack soap'..

Saddles i wipe with same cloth (water and liquid) and then work in leather conditioner with a sponge. simples and tack looks great!

Quick wipe with one step every time it's used

Hot water, take bridle fully apart and hang up on hooks on door. Put bit in water.
Then wash off grime/dirt etc. with wet cloth and clean bit.

Then soap really well, but sponge never goes in the water!! Only soap goes into water
I only use the stubben soap, its brill and gets tack really clean and that nice slightly sticky feeling

Get a synthetic bridle and stick it in the washing machine

For the stubben I use spray on soap then conditioner (both belvoir) then sometimes the stubben hanamol stuff
