very soon we are buying a HB505 ifor Williams, I am interested in getting a tac pac that can fix on the door. They are quite expensive and I was wondering if they're worth it/opinions or if there is any cheaper alternatives?

The door ones aren't that great I don't think plus they pull the door down eventually.

yes i thought this too.
the weight of the tack is bound to evnetually affect the door.

Id go for the oroginal type that go at the front and are on wheels so an be moved>

There is anorther brand but i cant remember what they are called.
They do lots of sizes and personalisation too.

I think they are also on ebay.

A tack pack is - I'm afraid - just an advert for a thief. You put all your tack in one place where it is nice and visible thinking it is safe. The ones not attached to a door can be wheeled away and who at a show will notice someone pushing a tack pack (or carrying a saddle!)? The ones attached top the door can't be wheeled away - but will put pressure on the door over time. But also they are relatively easy to break into.

Plus if you search this - and other - forums you will find issues with many saddles being too large for a tack pack or the packs not holding the amount of tack needed.

We have had tack packs in the past - both door mounted and free standing. But IMO the best option is a saddle pod in the tow car which is then securely locked. More space. Nothing gets squashed. And the security is much better. And its cheaper....

My trailer already had one fitted to the door when I bought it. I don't use it for saddles. I just use it to store buckets and grooming kit etc. personally I wouldn't buy one. I don't like the wheels one either as having to take it out and put back before/ after unloading is a nuisance. I just keep the tack in my car. Car has privacy glass so it's not obvious it's in there.

I got a tack pack thrown in with my trailer. Have never used it - much easier to sling everything in the boot. I have a Stubbs saddle mate which makes life much easier.
