Tack safes/lockers - do they prevent theft ?

I am looking to buy one as most of the morons at our yard leave the tack room door wide open while they go out for a hack, or even just go home & leave it open. Once recently I arrived at 10pm to find not a soul about & the door unlocked....very frustrating.

I have just bought a new saddle and could not afford to replace it as I would not be insured if stolen from an unlocked tack room. I wondered if people had managed to avoid attempted theft of their saddles from a tack room, locked or otherwise as a result of having a tack safe, or whether it would just a waste of money in which case I might decide to keep the saddle at home & bring it with me. Although would be a pain in the ass....

I have been looking at the more expensive models that retail between £300-£600.

I would imagine they would certainly slow down thieves if they were bolted onto the floor and wall. Expensive though.

When I had Sukari I looked at getting one as my yard has all the tack rooms open all day with clients wondering around.
I found one on Ebay, but I cannot remember who made it!! I will try to find it and get back!!

Have found what I want it's more a query if it was worth spending the dosh really. I was wondering if people had had them but still had their tack stolen.
