Just about to move yards from a large full livery yard with a good, secure tack room; to a smaller, private, assisted DIY yard which is lovely but has no similar facility. I can take my saddles home, but it would be a bit of a pain. There is a good, lockable storage shed at the new place, so was wondering whether to invest in a tack safe. Does anyone have one? Any pros and cons? Has anyone ever had one broken into? Any brand recommendations ..... ? I have two made to measure saddles for my lad which I'd be heartbroken to lose TBH (they are insured, but that's not the point ..), so the "home" option is the way to go at present, but would still appreciate any views or experiences. Thank all.

I presume that there's some way of securing the tack safe so it can't just be picked up a lugged away as a whole and broken in to later at the miscreant's leisure.

Yes, I think so. The one i've seen bolts to the floor, and/or an adjacent wall as well (a concrete floor/brick wall, obviously!) from the inside to stop it being moved. Good point though!!!

Google Asgard tack box.
Although I don't have a tack shed, I do have 2 cycles sheds and a garden shed. Super secure, damp and rodent proof. Can highly recommend these sheds.
