Hi All,

I am doing my first tack sale on Saturday and am a little nervous!!

Any tips to make it as easy as possible?

Thanks in advance.

Clean and present everything well, boots, stirrup leathers, stirrups etc, should be attached together with string so you don't loose one. Grab a reel of address labels, cut in strips, add sizes and price to labels and make sure everything has as much info on as possible for people to buy. I like to get a small piece of string, fold the price label over and stick it down and tie the label to the item so it doesn't leave marks, wash what can be washed, oil what needs oiling, put bits, stirrups etc through the dishwasher. Research appropriate and reasonable prices, don't give things away but don't overprice them, this will drive people off. Be prepared to negotiate, for example if someone buys three separate items totalling £27, be nice and round down to £25. If you are selling for other people, have a list of their items, the minimum price they want and mark down what has sold with a tick and the price, to keep track. Go armed with lots of change and as many carrier bags as you can find. :)

Thank you! I am taking a few bits for someone else which makes me a little nervous. I've bought lots of tie on labels and going to cash and carry tomo to get carrier bags. 90% of my 'stock' is new so is clean and ready to rock.
