Essex (20/25 miles from London - accessible by train from Liverpool St. and a taxi from Ingatestone station) there is Ingatestone Saddlery. Its massive and very good although I think its gone downhill a bit recently.

Lillywhites no longer stock any riding stuff. It has turned into a very nasty naff sportswear discount place.

Harrods pricey but nice stuff to llok at.

Agreed! I haven't a clue when it comes to horsey things in central london, but when in desperate need of a couple of items I headed to Harrods and not only did they give me excellent service, one of the items was cheaper than my local tack shop! I did however get ribbed by my friends for buying horse treats from Harrods (well you know how it is, once you head into a saddlery for one thing, you come out with 100!)

I got told off this summer when I was ona quest for a cricket ball - my response 'oh Harrods will have one' at which point I was frog marched to a sports shop full of chavs! I like it better when I get to choose my shops (and besides, I wanted KKs...:) )

Hey, I used to keep my horse there!! I'm sure it was called the old express dairy farm before? You can get a bus direct from Oxford circus (used to be the 13) takes about 20/30 mins

Frogpool Manor is easy to get to from Charing cross, just a short 30 min journey to Sidcup station. Its fantastic.... have to say that as I used to work there as a groom! Plus I get all my feed and tack from them, would highly recommend it, click on the advert and you will access their site
