Beware

My yard, another yard and a private house with horses had tack stolen late pm on 9th March/before 7am on 10th March.

They only took tack and riding equipment, and drugs. They must of stolen about 20 saddles and bridles. Such a nightmare.

ho hum

another one bites the dust

they have been working that area since last october and another resurgence in january

if only people would be honest about what yards have been done then it would help others to be more on their guard

also it would soooooooooooo help if people who bought 1800 quid saddles bothered to spend 20 quid on insurance marking them............and if people who had yards with 30 liveries spent more than 30 quid on a padlock !! (yep - I know it's not all yards - but it's enough to keep the thieves in beer money)

ifyou have window bars they should be horizontal and verticle and welded together
rooves should have razor wire on them
doors should be steel - or use a steel container
padlocks should be category 13 to 15
insurance hasps - those things that cost about £80 each - should be bolted through the walls on steel plate

if I had my way I'd put 450 volts thru the damn steel doors and laugh whilst I watched them trying to break in !!
unhappily that is illegal

anyone for a good fry up

Unfortunately there is such a good secondhand market for equestrian gear that we encourage the thieves. Id love to know how much stolen stuff is sold on ebay.

lots - becuase people don't mark their saddles and buyers don't take them to vet to have their microchipping status checked

also lots ends up in Eire and then gets legally imported back here to be sold.
