Hi guys,

So I’m heading to Australia for about two months in a couple of weeks. The horses will be out full time on a well deserved break while I’m gone however just wondering how I should store tack? The room I currently store it in … if I don’t ride for a week when I come back some of the tack (I.e., bridles, saddles, boots - anything leather really!) has white mould on it probably from some damp source. Just wanted to know whilst I’m gone what I should do? Is there any way I could store the items while I’m gone to prevent this. It’s not like I’m going for the long term and can sell my tack or anything! But I equally don’t want to come back greeted with unusable, mouldy, and falling apart tack 🙈

Can you store it in a house? All the stuff I should sell is cluttering up a spare room and it's fine but a couple of old bridles at the yard have got white mould on them

yep another vote for take it home. Apart from the obvious mould problems if you leave it at your yard, if it's at home it'll be covered by your house insurance subject to limits on your policy. Which is also worth checking btw. If you're gone for more than 30 days your house insurance will be invalid so you'll need to ring them to get proper cover (assuming there isn't someone living there whilst you're gone)

Australia!! Always wanted to go. Expect pics when you get back!!
