My mate has just rung in an extreme rant – their yard (one of the biggest in the area with several members of full-time staff on the yard at the time) has been done over and all their tack has been nicked in broad daylight from individual tack lockers.

Can you please let people know about the theft so that hopefully people can keep their tack safe.

We had a couple of carts go from our place over 2 consecutive weeks.

Guy at the yard said this kind of thing happened about 10 years ago and it all ended up on a ferry to Ireland after a month long stealing spree(it's local legend apparently....could be the same guys or someone trying to copy....just hope they aren't interested in horses.

probably see it all at york horse sales today

York horse sales dont take late entries on saddles, they have to be taken and booked in well in advance, this helps to prevent stolen saddles being passed on quickly.

I know, but they would have to be pretty dumb to take them there when there that hot....having said that, there is chancelol!

Unfortunately, it may come as a suprise but a lot of tack is bought back of these people in a job lot, to dodgy dealer yards selling horses with tack, rugs etc.

Try Checking out Castle Beeston, Near Tarporley ,each wednesday cheshire and also Derby (2nd and 4th saturdays).Don't just look in the auction, look on the stalls, I found one of my bridles on a stall in Beeston and one of my saddles on a stall at Derby.
