Tack theft west sussex may 2010

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Could everyone be as vigilant as possible.... there have been a spate of local break ins and thefts in the Storrington / Pulborough Area of West Sussex recently. Just this weekend two relatively hidden away yet large yards were broken into and stripped of all tack!

Either take tack home, insure it or make your property where tack is held as secure as possible, don't assume that noone knows where you are!

Lets not give these rotten sods any opportunity to continue in this way, as far as I see it it's a case of take it home or loose it!

I can't afford to replace all my tack, can you????

Not far from me.....we had a break in back in Jan this year, luckily they appear to have been disturbed and only got 1 saddle and a gennie....we too are off the beaten track so whoever it was somehow knew we were there. We now take all tack home, it's not worth the risk.

One of the yards belonged to my friend, and they're all really depressed about losing all their stuff. They've managed to borrow some stuff but what a dreadful time of year to be without your tack!
I checked my insurance to make sure I was covered and it appears not because my tack is in a wooden barn, albeit on a very large and secure yard with owners living on site. I've been taking everything home every day. A real pain yes, but much less pain than my friends are going through.
Hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

I work for Amy Stovold and we had 7 saddles stolen from our tack room. We have CCTV, sensor alarms, 2 key locks and a pin pad. Plus 2 grills on the window, which they cut to get in. They obviously had been watching the yard so keep and eye out for people just hanging around.
