tail growth

i have just bought a 2yr old filly who has had her tail cut short way above her hocks

does anyone know how long it takes a youngsters tail to grow down?

the pony is a sweetheart and im realy pleased with her regardles but everyone keeps taking the mick out of her poor tail!!

Look at it this way, at least she will have a mud free tail this winter, so yah, boo, sucks to those who are making fun.

I used to cut the tails of our welshies in winter because of our horrendously muddy fields, I would chop them to just below hock height, by the first show of the season in April they were back at fetlock height again. So that would be a good 6" in about 5 months.

You are not alone in the short tail department, Thank God I don't show this horse, I would be casting about looking for a falsie for her. This was NOT cut but trimmed by the flipping foal!
