Tail Guards/Bags for a Gypsy Cob!

My gorgeous boy went to his first show today and did really well, qualifying for the 2014 Midarc Summer Championship in hand

My problem is that we had a bit of a wait before the class, and he had quite a few "nervous poos" which made his tail disgusting!

Normal tail guards don't fit around his tail, and normal tail bags don't fit the length or width, but I could really do with one :/ Where do other Gypsy owners get theirs from? Any ideas welcome

? Old pair of tights if you can't find anything to do the job

You could modify a leg from a pair of waterproof trousers, maybe use Velcro to stick to a tail bandge or guard that does fit somehow?

There is a girl on FB called Mane Angels, you have friend her.... she makes mane and tail bags so she could probably make one big enough for your needs.....

Good luck- I think only a sleeping bag would fit around the tail of a gypsy cob I know !

Have always used old tights! However this was before tail bags had been invented

Ok, I have a solution!

Thematex will make a tail guard to order, so I need to measure his tail and let them know the sizes. (Bonus is that it can be made in his "colours" so I can have a Thermatex rug to match too!) Then I'm going to butcher a pair of waterproof trousers (one leg may not be enough ) to make a tail bag. I'll add velcro to the top of it, and to the inside of the guard so they stick together, and the bag will have velcro top to bottom so it's easy to fit.

I did consider trying tights but I'm really not sure they'd fit!

Good idea, I was going to do the same with trousers for my white tailed mare but found woof make a bag to attach to their tail guard with Velcro. I doubt your huge tail would fit it it though!
