Can anyone explain / show me a link to a video of the tail plait people use when hunting. I can do a good normal tail plait and the one that sits on top but Im fascinated by the plaints that are used for hunting and would like to have a go(you know the type where the tail looks tucked up back on itself, bit like the Lusos have in the videos in the PG)

I hope Ive explained myself correctly

If anyone can post a pikkie that would be fab so everyone else can see what I mean.

(Also in NL)

Thankies

You plait the tail in a normal tail plait right down to the bottom of the dock and secure it. You then take the rest of the tail and plait it together again (I do it in 3 plaits and then plait them all together) securing it at the bottom (making sure the first plait is incorporated into the big plait). You then fold the tail in two away from you and then fold it in two again away from you. Secure it with thread by sewing the bits together or by using black tape.

Does this make sense?!!!

See my sig or Tigers_Eye Picture gallery of opening meet of Vale of Aylesbury with Garth and South Berks (a hunt name so long it should be welsh -lol) for pictures of my boys. They have pulled tails but i do them the same as unpulled coz its quick & effective-

Plait down the dock as per normal

When you reach the bottom of dock, pull in the rest of the tail and plait down to the end so its one long plait top to bottom

Fold up the end of the tail behind the dock, secure with insulation tape the same colour as the tail (unless you need red or green)

Im sure purists will have a fancier way but i can do this in less than 10 mins per tail!

If you want to do it like the lusos tails...
...do the plait at the top of the tail as normal...
then separate a section about the thickness of a rein ...the rest twist from the top down so tight until it twists up onto the bottom of the dock then continue to wrap it over and up the dock .... when you have twisted it up hold it whilst you start twisting the separated piece over the top of the first twist but going the opposite direction. Then you will be left with two ends put together and either sew together or use plaiting bands then tuck the ends into the twist to tidy. You can tie them together if your clever ...sorry dont have picks but if you are passing Northampton drop in and i will show you :)
