Is it the done thing? every time I have been out I have had a plaited tail but do I need to bother as I notice only a minority of the field plait their horse's tail

Many whom don't plait tend to have pulled tails. If your horse doesn't I'd plait.

personally, I prefer to plait as I can put it all up, stitch it in, and just undo it at the end of the day, rather than have to wash it all the time! It's surprising how cold a wet tail can make a horse.

Our mare doesn't have a pulled tail so we plait. Also easier to get her green ribbon to stay put (first season).

One of mine has a pulled tail which is sometimes put up also the other has a full tail which is plaited.
