I need help!!! need a tail pulling!! I can maintain them, but dont want to attempt pulling from scratch!! Do tail pulling experts exist? Where can I find one? I keep my horses at home, so cant ask anyone else here!! I know there are proffesional clippers, maybe they can pull tails too. Any ideas?

No not really, my horsey friends mainly have spanish horses, so not much pulling there!!! Ive never bought a horse with a full tail and had to pull it!!

In that case Phil may well be able to pop over and do it over the space of 2 or 3 days for a bit of pocket money - what is he like having the tail pulled (have you tried at all so far?)

I honestly don't know why anyone woud pull a tail! They look Sh*t?! I have maybe seen one or two nicely pulled ones but by and large they seem to end up high maintenance bog brushes?

Have regular pulling vs plait arguments with friends, I just don't see their argument?

Give me a smart plait any day....

the rake things really, have tried them and just didnt like it!!!

lzt...Its just the norm for show horses to have pulled tails, looks smart when done well and makes bottoms look great too!!!

Hi, I use one of those tail pullers/rakes you can only get them at clipper sharp they normally advertise in horse and hound. They are fantastiic and takes only a few min for a perfect tail. My horse has a VERY thiick tail and hates having it pulled because it makes it so sore, but he doesnt even notice when i use the rake. Everyone has different ideas of what a pulled tail should look like but personally i just pull down the sides and leave the middle untouched that way it doesnt look like a bog brush but gives their bottom a nice shape. Hope this is of some help!

We don't 'pull' we achieve the same look using trimmers and/or a razor comb. With that we do the same as crazyhorzy and concentrate on edges of tail and tend to leave the middle alone, unless this is vvv unruley (not usually on our tbs!)- would say that clipping with trimmers is quite skilled or they end up looking horrific!

If you have any blades from clippers that you don't use any more, use them to keep the tail tidy. Just use one of the blades down the side of the tail. Works a ttreat and doesn't look 'cut/clipped'.
