I find that my horse doesn't particularly mind though S. I tail rake it, and pull out the odd hair. He really doesn't seem bothered at all.

I know a cob who has his tail pulled before shows. He just stands there and goes all jelly-lipped, he loves it! Admittedly not normal though! I leave mine, probably out of habit after having an M&M for so long.

i pull my show ponies, he goes to sleep when you do his and concidering he is normlay very fast with his back legs i dont think it hurts him

My mare loves getting mane and tail pulled too? Considering she won't stand to be groomed she goes to sleep when her mane and tail are being done. Strange!

A lady came to do missys for balmoral , she didnt stand too bad but she started to bleed , So I asked her to stop and I would finish the rest of it with a tail rake .

Have used a tail rake from then on and much more easier on the horse plus alot quicker , with just the same affect as a pulled tail .

just ordered a oster tail rake off ebay 10t is that right?

i use a solo comb its better for them and better for us and it gives a neat tail and mane at the end

I don't pull cos I don't like my eyebrows plucked so god knows how it feels having hair pulled from your personal bits. Anyway, I use scissors - shocl horror I can hear you say. If done correctly nobody will know although you need to keep on top of it.

My showing friend who competes at County always thinks my girl's tail looks good and I've not told her how I do it yet cos she's be horrified

Yes, but if you're cutting it, you're not pulling it out by the roots. You have the Shilasdair seal of approval!

I dont, I personally hate the look of pulled tails. But I guess, if you really want to do it then a tail rake is probably the kindest method.

Im not that keen on the look either but would rather pull/rake whatever you want to call it

than to plait for showing , it takes less time plus not worried that youngster is going to rub the plait out .
