My new Highland pony has a fantastic tail which goes right down to the ground but she has just started rubbing it and I am worried that it won't be fantastic for much longer. My old Dalesx mare used to do this and I put benzyl benzoate (I think that is what it was called) on which stopped it. Do you think this is too "severe" to put on new pony's tail, assuming I can get hold of it? Has anyone had any success with other treatments?

mine is doing the same to his famous mane which is what i fell in love with and a little to the tail, its horrid. do you know if it is sweet itch? yes benzyl is the best thing, as is nettex itch stop salve lotion. good luck.

BB is the best - if you can get hold of it, but Nettex Itch Stop Salve is also good. there are many products on the market which contain BB, but they usually cost a fortune,
