Hi Peeps - Can you help?
My mare has rubbed the top of her tail something rotten in the wagon at the weekend. I had tail bandgaged and also put a wrap round it but she rubbed that hard that she dislodged them and then proceeded to completely wreck her tail - right down to the skin - it was red raw - the poor love.
Think it was due to the fact that I had travelled another horse recently and put shavings down on the floor for that one and not cleared them out before travelling my mare. She obviously thought she couldnt get her balance with the shavings there and had shoved her bum against the side of the box for balance. She has not done this before - and is normally travelled just on the rubber mats of the wagon, with a tail bandage / wrap.
Any ideas on how I can protect her tail in future - just until she realises that she can balance OK and therefore not damage her tail any further?
Ideas would be very much welcomed ..... over to you guys ...
