.....Urm,I don't want to go into detail, but,do you easily offer your services to help others out doing their horses. For example their away, and there is lots of confusion as to who is doing the horse.....so you do it,despite working all weekend in your job, crawling into work kn*ckered and all you want to do is lie down and tell the world to shove off!(Yes, abit drastic I know!)So why do I find myself saying 'Yes' and not 'No'! Then this Morning I was chatting to one of the other girls who's horse I had turned out at start of this weekend and the first thing she said was Thankyou! Yet the other horse that I mucked out,and left his feeds and hay all immaculate, and turned out all weekend,it's owner walked past me said 'Hi' and made no mention of a 'Thanks' gesture,I know I was chatting, but normally she is quick to 'butt' in,and now feel I have 'Sucker' ingrained in my forehead......am I over sensitive and easily offened, and if someone had done this for you would your first words on return be'Thankyou it was much appreciated'.......I'm lost for words here!

a thankyou was the least she could do tbh - i often do my friends horses up the road, which involves bringing 2 in, changing rugs, feeding, doing water in the ones in field and giving them hay - usually takes bout half an hour altogether as she leaves things v organised. i dont expect anything as she takes me places in her lorry altho we do pay petorl but more often than not she brings me flowers or choc for doing her boys just to show she appriciates it

and sooo angry I could kill, manners cost now't!(I was brought up to use them!)

i got tough during last winter, after a girl who had asked me to breakfast and rug change and turn out her horse for a couple of days till she arranged something took that as id do the damn thing every day, the yo called around to her house one afternoon and she was just getting up (more fool me for getting up early to feed the horses!).
told her i wouldnt do it anymore but she didnt come up one saturday till 3pm, said she'd been in the pub beer garden all day (as far as she knew her horse hadnt been fed but id given it some of my hay)

I would expect at least a thank you. If someone looks after mine I would and do do the same for them. The odd bottle of wine each way also shows appreciation

I have my horse at home so when I go away it is difficult. A friend up the road always does my horse for me - he is out so only needs water topping up and a feed bucket. But I always leave her full instrutions, contact numbers, take my horses food and buckets to her house and buy her something nice and a thank you card each time. She always tells me off for buying things but it is the least I can do I feel!
It is quite easy to say no once you have got into the habit of it, so start practicing now in time for those horrible winter months!

I have 'MUG' tattoed to my forehead so you have my deepest sympathy.

Sometimes 'thank you' seems like a lost phrase

My OH laughs at me 'cos i struggle with 'no', his opinion is that it should be easier to say no than yes.... one less letter!
but then its so nice when you help out a friend and they are grateful and give chocs - it makes it all worthwhile!
