So one of the lovely ladies at the yard has offered to give me a lift and give me a lead from her nice dependable horse in December.

BH hasn't ever hunted and nor have I but most of you 'know' us at least a little bit. We'll be fine right? I am such a total woose! She has suggested a PC meet so it should be non scary but I am petrified already!

Also, on a side note, he hasn't got shoes on. Do you think he'll be ok?

Oops. Hunting obviously. That's the trouble with touch typing and watching tv at the same time!!

I hunt mine (the grey one) with just fronts, there was a thread about barefoot hunting in Hunting Forum and the general consensus seemed to be that if your horse is used to it they should be fine unless you're planning to cover flinty country.

You will be fine :) hang out at the back with your friend and let him see what's going on without feeling crowded. I can't wait to hear what BH tells Nitty about it all.....

ETA - Hunting Forum has loads of good tips about settling horses into hunting

If you've not been before, can I recommend bitting him up for the day?!

I took Clover cubbing before his accident, he was a snaffle-mouth at all times, but he turned into an absolute tank. He was pulling my arms out, I had no control, and after 1/2 an hour, said my apologies and left. Wish I'd put a gag or similar in, I might have been able to enjoy the day

I don't think we have flints around here! He is usually absolutely fine shoeless. He does everything else with out so I guess he'll be ok.

I don't have much stickability. I'm scared I'll fall off constantly :o
