Taking dogs to work with you?

When I worked on a farm ... so did my dogs !
They came with me when I worked with horses ....they were very fit doing roadwork with pt-pters!!
Whilst working as Vet Nurse .. we lived on the premises .. so they were 'at work' all the time.
Likewise when I was in Kennels....... Then Whilst doing freelance training, they took it in turns coming with me ... depending what I needed from my demo dog.

I usually had accommodation for myself and all of my animals on site where I worked. There is no way I would of taken a job where they were not welcome, or where they would of had to be left at home alone all day. That is no life for a dog

My sister has always taken her dogs to work, as she works/has worked for animal charities (Blue Cross, Dogs for the Disabled etc)

She has CKCS - she takes a cage to pop them into when she has to go to meetings etc, otherwise they sit under the desk etc - they are always quite happy interacting with all the other dogs there, and amuse themselves.

I was considering taking my greyhound to work (not quite so easy as she is slightly larger!) as I have my own office - I would have brought in a cage, nice dog bed, radio for when I was off to meetings, and some chews/bones for her

I got my dog when I was working as a groom/nanny so her puppy stage was fairly supervised. I then moved area and got an office job but am so lucky because she comes with me to work. She has a bed on the window sill so she can look out of the window although she moves spots depending on where the sun is shining through the windows. She has also been given the honoury title of Company Chairman!! Sad really!!

We have a dog in our office most days, boss' PA has a lurcher who started coming in when he broke his leg and had to supervised virtually constantly, then even after his leg has totally recovered, he still comes in 3 days a week. I take mine in sometimes on the other days.

Mine come to work with me...Im a night nurse in a large veterinary hospital.....so they roam around the hospital with me....... they are very laid back...so usually lie at the bottom of the stairs....then they come to bed with me...as there is a flat above the hospital.
My Akita lies on the landing....cos it nice and cool for her and my rotti in the duty room with me.

I Take Daisy May a to work if i have to do all day (i only do 4 normally) or on a sat morn and she loves sitting on the chair in reception and supervising!! She loves the attention she gets off everyone and she likes to see the other dogs (i work at the PDSA) she loves sniffing in the cattery!!! hmm wonder why????

I used to take my 2 lurchers to work - I work and live on a stud - But now I have a young whippet who loves to chase horses! So I keep them in now, until he's got over that stage. But as I live at work I can usually see what they're up to through the back door!

I have occasionally sneaked my dog (JRT) into work, I work 12hrs shifts in a windowless control room. He then spends most of the time sleeping at my feet or scrounging food off the other controllers, I also walk him round the carpark in my breaks.

I have 2 labs and a springer and take them all to work. I work in a farm office and the owners have three black labs and my assistant has a border terrier, so in total sometimes there are 7 dogs in the office!!!

There is always a lot of snoring, some games going on but mostly they lie flat out right in doorways so you have to pick your way across the office - dont think health and safety would be very impressed!!!!!

We've got two lurchers. My dog goes to work with my OH and i take his dog to work (she broke her leg and therefore we swapped who took who to work). My OH is a self employed courier so Domino goes in the van with him. Bessie comes to work with me (i work in an office). She has a large crate with a couple of duvets etc and spends the majority of the day asleep. When it's sunny she'll follow the sun around the office to sunbathe and generally get under mine or the other lady's feet! When i go out to ride during the day the lady i work with keeps a eye on her. Only problems i have with her are that she likes to make a daily inspection of everyone's bins to check for leftover food and she'll bark if she sees a tasty cat out the window!!!

part of my job is visiting care centres and hospices, and when I can my pup comes with me. she's brilliant and loves all the fuss. she's a relatively calm puppy and if she wasn't I doubt very much if I could have her with me. She mostly falls asleep in a corner or at my feet and the residents and patients love her. Feel very lucky that I can do so... and the rest of the time I'm home based so she's with me most days.
