Taking horse out in trailer - would you take a companion

So I have a nice new horse who has been travelled in lorry in previous home a few times but not in trailer, I have been practicing but took him out with my older horse in trailer for comfort the first time. He was noisy but did settle, we only went around the block and back. Do I carry on with companion for a few times to make him happier in trailer and then after he is used to it stop taking companion or am I making things hard and should I just take him alone, even though it will stress him more?
I have a lesson booked tomorrow about 15 mins away, not sure whether to take companion or not! But then am worried he will be attached in lesson but am worried he may do something silly in trailer without a friend! Any ideas?
 
I would travel alone unless you also had someone with you who could stay all the time with the companion, in case they become unsettled when left alone.
 
It is completely reasonable for a horse to be worried about a trailer - being put in a tin box and shaken must be very difficult.
So don’t take a companion, accept it may take a lot of time to load both ways tomorrow and after that see where you are and then arrange lots of short happy journeys (or even just putting the horse on the trailer without even moving if short of time), never take the horse off the box until they are calm, and do everything you can to make the journey smooth.
I have been working for months with a horse who started off terrified, then just hated it but today loaded, travelled and unloaded like a pro. It has taken a lot of work but I need a horse who is calm and confident to travel, so it has been worth putting in the time and effort.
 
Thanks for all of the responses. I won't take the companion. I have been working everyday on going into the trailer etc alone and he is fine. It's when we start moving. But I do need to take him alone and he does need to get used to it.
 
Ideally let him learn to settle on a longer journey. Adrenalin remains high for the first 20 mins or so, so if your journeys are always short they don't have time to come down from the stress (assuming they are stressed by being in the trailer).
