I have decided to take my mare cubbing next Sat as the meet is local to my yard, so I can hack and in case she is terrible I can bring her home. She has never been before but has evented and done sponsored rides and she was a star. Some questions:

What do I wear?
Do I need to let the hunt know that Im planning on coming??

Im going to put some green ribbon in her tail, but she is good with dogs, so the hounds will be safe.

Thankyou

what to wear -
cream/beige jods,
tweed or ratcather jacket,
either shirt and tie or shirt and coloured stock,
black boots, or gaiters.
gloves (cos it'll be cold early on!)
hat silk should be black or navy really.

It would be polite to let the hunt sec know that you would like to go just in case they are limiting numbers, and to check what they charge for cap (we pay £10). It would also be prudent to tell them that it is your first time out, and on a novice horse, so they can pair you up with someone who knows the ropes.

green ribbon is a good idea, well thought out!

have fun and let us know how you get on!

That all sounds good :) Not sure if you know, but you don't have to plait! Just make sure the horse is clean and tidy obviously. I'd also wrap up warm, from the limited amount of cubbing I've done (early mornings don't agree with me too often) there can be a fair bit of standing around. Have fun!

Jennygrace & Lui23456,
Am guessing that you're going with the Pytchley....if so, cap is currently £15. Hunt Sec's tel number & email are on the hunt website: http://www.thepytchleyhunt.co.uk/

If you're going to the BBQ on Friday JennyG, don't forget a fiver for some food!

Lui23456....I may be out on Sat, so feel free to PM me if you want to meet up with someone so that you have someone to 'attach' your horse to.

Enjoy!
