just got this message from my older sister after she text me yesterday asking what my own loan agreement said and i asked why she wanted to know:
"cheers!i've been offered a pony on loan....3yo appaloosa welsh cob type.went to see him on sunday and loved him but still thinking about it....need an agreement that works for me (and just wondered what yours said for reference) will keep you updated....he's a lovely boy and would be alot of fun!so we shall see! xxx"
cue my response saying 'what?! a 3yo?!' thinking she must have meant to type 13yo. i asked if she was really ready to take it on as she owns a little retired mare despite having no money while studying vet med (her second time at uni.) she has a lot of experience with riding school ponies and she has done a lot of teaching but she has no exp (as far as i know) with youngsters - riding or handling.
she then said:
"he's been backed and by the time i got him he'd be totally rideable.he's steady as they come....a one in a million pony!you've got rocky so i dont see why mum would have a problem!dont worry, im working out the monies (worst case scenario since i dont yet know what deal the owner will offer) and how much i'd have to work to pay for him....he lives out, no shoes, no rugs needed, no feed required.but no decision made yet!"
am i right in thinking she's nuts? i don't want to seem like i'm being mean and putting her off but a) i literally cannot see how she can afford this and would hate for her to get into trouble and b) she's not into competing and i think she only wants to hack at least until she finishes uni, but surely any 3yo no matter how saintly it may seem will still need a lot of work?? don't want her getting hurt either, or the pony ending up being given back and passed from pillar to post.
