Fingers crossed after a year of waiting, we will be able to pick up a dog that has been rehomed at the end of the month. He is 4 and neutered, we already have a one year old cocker cross bitch who is very biddable and easy going, but I wondered if anyone had any tips for getting the new boy to settle in? Should I introduce them to each other away from 'her' territory? She is crate trained, should I continue shutting her in at night or let her out now to be with her new friend (hopefully!). I have been trying to wean her off the crate at night but she howls if loose and trashes the kitchen. Hoping some doggy company will stop that...

Any tips welcomed! Many thanks :-)

Introductions should always be done on neutral territory, having said that I dont as mine are not overly fussed at any dogs coming into their territory although I do do it in the garden one dog at a time.

If you pm Cayla and ask, she will send you a rehoming guide which covers everything, she runs her own successful rescue with her mum and Ive just passed this guide on to another rescue and they are thrilled with it.
