I have just weaned my foal from my mare she has settled pretty well and has been left with her 3 year old brother but she has always been really attatched to him. I have no other horses about and he is acting a bit of a big baby too (prob worse than the foal) Is there anything I can give them to help calm them, they are already on brewers yeast but I just want something to mellow them a bit I have a few ideas on things but was wondering what sort of things people have had success with?. I want to be able to work on my 3 year old without the foal having a fit about the fact he's not in his stable which i know takes time. I just want to take the edge off. Thanks :)

I just had to sit it out

my gelding was weaned here with his mum , they could see each other call to each other and gradually accepted it , by doing this they still have a very close bond and mum always protects him but they are independent.
try magic calmer it works wonders.

I remember when i first hacked out son galloped up the drive in his field calling to mum and same on way back...

i would suggest magnesium or Magic calmer.

:)
