okay so i am currently exploring loads of options for my lad as he's too good at jumped to be wasted on dressage so after looking at BSJA which i've decided is a little too much too soon for him as he's only 6 and i'm not too confident in the SJ ring i've decided to look at taking WHP a step further after been very successful at it last show season. I have competes at local level upto 80/90cm and I have taken him to british elite where the jumps were about 1m05 we were unplaced as he didn't like the hay bales under the jump (sorted that now they don't bother him) and I have also taken him to equestrian life in which we were placed 7th out of 24 I believe so was pleased with that result. where can i go from here i am in my comfort zone jumping around 90-1m tracks and just don't how to progress with my working hunter?! any ideas sorry if this sounds a bit daft i'm not big on the showing scene :)

Really need to know how big your horse/pony is & how old you are really!!
14hh whp are for riders under 17 & the jumps are 1m,
15hh whp are for riders under 20 & the jumps are 1.05m,
Intermediate wh (under 15.2hh) is for riders under 25 & the jumps are 1.15m.
Horse WH are for horses any height (over 14.2 & riders over 16) & the jumps are 1.15m

The jumps are HOYS & Hickstead can be 10cms bigger & the Desert Orchid (at BSPS Champs) can be 15cms bigger - but horse workers stays at 1.15.

The novice heights are about 10 or 15cms smaller than open height & restricted *for horses/ponies who haven't been to HOYS or Hickstead in the previous year) is about 5-10cms smaller.

Just get yourself out to some winter shows where there's not going to be much pressure, either go tto compete or just to watch so you get the hang of it, the BSPS & ponies UK website have a list of shows. Also check out the Horse Gossip forum, thats more showing inclined!!!
