Taking your horse on holiday??

I have just come back from a weekend at Little Lodge in Thetford Forest. Fantastic riding with loads of cantering, plus a small xc course to play on. Their lodges are really luxurious as well!

ooo were already planning a weekend in Thetford. I grew up In norfolk with friends living in Thetford and have wanted to ride there since i was about 5 lol

Field farm looks fun and isn't a million miles away, just far enough to feel like a holiday :D

If you are looking for a hacking holiday rather than instruction, We take our horses to ocean lodge holiday park in Brean, Somerset. .. In fact we are going on friday :-). It has stables and a sand paddock for the horses and clean mobile home for us humans! You ride stright out of the paddock onto about 7 miles of beach, its great.

Ive also been to Stockland Lovall in Somerset on insruction camps. This is a great place to go too.

I've been to Little Lodge Farm in Thetford three times already and am booked to go again twice next year! We always have a beach day from there too and there's plenty of hacking if you don't fancy the 2 mile cross country course. Can't beat it for value.

I also have had a week at The Warwick International School of Riding but choosing the first week of the school holidays meant we were joined by about 20 under 16's and it was like a kids pony camp, brilliant fun though!

Quainton Stud run dessage, show jumping and xc camps and really enjoyed a jump camp there last year.

I love horsey holidays!! :)

Just me and my horse used to holiday at a hotel with stables in West Wales.

The beach rides were fantastic ... several beaches with hacking distance,
and great forestry rides with a cross country course behind the hotel. Sadly it is now closed .

West Wales I would recommend for a variety of beach rides ... or Ireland.
Depends on how far you want to travel with your horse.
Brecon Beacons in pleasant.
Hope you find some good places for a complete change of scene.
Happy Holidays,
Teg :)

Slightly biased as I know the owner, not actually been there yet but it's lovely by all accounts: http://www.middlewickholidaycottages.co.uk/index.html - fab facilities incl indoor pool, stabling, manage, dog friendly
Lots of lovely countryside, stacks of bridleways, you can box to the coast for beach rides, it's not far to Weston Super Mare or you could box or hack to a xc course.

I've been to Church Farm in Forest of Dean - highly recommended!

Loads of hacking - all mapped out on sheets for you with handy hints and local pubs marked ;-)

Owner also took us out on a guided longer hack. Stables are huge and fields are lovely. Very little road work.

I'd definitely go back!! :D

Redlands Equestrian has taken over what used to be Bridlerides (not sure about the prices, used to be very reasonable) and they have places and routes all over the country. From London I think the Ridgeway would be good, and Bedfordshire is supposed to have a good network as well.

I did a holiday in the Cotswolds with Bridlerides which was fab, would love to go back again.

Oooh! Adds Farm, right on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. Brilliant riding, brilliant accommodation, brilliant breakfasts!

I took mine to the IOW last year. Fabulous hacking and great views from the top of the Downs. OH played cricket and I went riding. What a great way to spend a long weekend.

Thanks guys lots of fab ideas, im planning on doing my trailer test after xmas so want to spend next year taking Jen to as many diff places as possible. Shes getting on now so we want to go whist she's still enjoying going out and about!
