Hey, would I be allowed to take my horse on Ogmore beach? Or do I need to contact someone to ask permission or something? I'm looking to take Danny on there with in the next few weeks. Someone told me that you're not allowed to take your own horses on the beach in the summer?
If that's true, then does anyone know of a nice beach to take my horse on? I'd prefer a quieter one, as it would be Danny's first time on one.
Thanks in advance!

techincally you need a permit which you can get from the local council. Although i know several people who ride on there without one and never been stopped, if you get stopped say you left your permit at home, thats what they say to do.

also forgot to add, you have to ride through 2 rivers to get on to the actual beach, one shallow one and one deeper one. i think at deepest part its about 2 1/2 ft. i was worried about this first time i hacked my horse over to the beach as he never been in water that deep, but he plodded on straight through! im lucky that im a hack away from ogmore so get plenty of practise! lol

Hmm... Hopefully he will trust me enough to let me take him through them! He's been in streams before, and had one in his summer field, so perhaps he'd be okay with a river. (:

Or, you could ride thro the dunes (used to take the edge off mine before getting to the beach ;))Park at Merthyr mawr. I used to go regularly when I lived at home, used to go really early before it got busy. Have fun......I miss it loads!

last time i went through the dunes, i got mega lost! if you go this way, be careful you dont get lost, its really easy to get lost in there as they go for miles.lol
