Tali’s feeling poorly

I went to go get Tali this morning to hack out and meet a friend. Very exciting. But when I went to her she was lying down, unusual as she sleeps at night when she’s in. Got her in and she was very quiet, and didn’t eat any hay. Very worrying as hay is life for Tali. I messaged my friend to say I wouldn’t make our hack and phoned the vet. My friend hacked over and it was nice to chat to her while I waited for the vet.

the vet thinks she has a mild gassy colic so she got some buscopan and something else to make her more comfortable. Temperature and heart rate was good. She was such a good girl for the vet and as soon as the vet got in her car she started picking at her hay. Vet said I could either keep her in or put her out, wherever she was happiest but as long as I can keep an eye on her. So I thought she would be happiest out with the others but when I tried to take her out, she didn’t want to go so I left her in with a pile of hay.

I’ve never had a horse colic before (18 years of owning horses) and thank goodness this one seemed pretty mild but still such a worry! She has perked up so much since the vets been so after a few hours in her stable I’ve put her out to her friends who wouldn’t leave the gate. Fingers crossed that is her over it now ??18D5E34F-0433-4BF1-BCB4-202CF826A380.jpg9EBE506C-843A-4A8E-809E-909D3C44840E.jpegB17665A1-56A0-4105-A904-93E88CF9D9A3.jpg
Picture 2 and 3 after several hours, looking much brighter.

Sorry to hear that, I lost two to colic I know the worry. I strong recommend this for many types of colic as your first port of call. Either in feed or 10 ml on the onset as grass is def growing now, it has been beneficial on my yard to other s who had colic, and many the worst was over by the time vet came . Just read the reviews.

thank you for this. I’ve not had a colicky horse before so might be good to get just incase Tali feels poorly again.
