I'm on a roll guys with all these threads ;)
So now that monkey is off work for a good few weeks I have been having a bit of a clean up in the tack room and started looking at his current tack. He is currently ridden in a Neue Schedule Starter Bit for all activities (dressage, jumping, hacking and lungeing, haven't attempted xc yet) and has been for the past 3 years. He schools beautifully, no issues with brakes or turning (most of the time). The odd twitch of the rein is sometimes needed to say "hey I'm on the end of this here, turn/stop/steady" but he generally listens well. However I don't feel he is 100% relaxed and happy with this bit. He does sometimes lock onto the bit when schooling so I let go quickly and retake and steering/bending sometimes becomes an issue. He is also very chompy and goes for gold when given a loose reign, hacking to and away from home or if he's done some length of work, back and teeth have been checked and ruled out, I just think there could be a better bit out there for him. Any suggestions? He doesn't wear a flash for any activities and only wears a running martingale if he hasn't hacked or jumped for a while as he sometimes naps and rears but has never taken off or anything like that.
Suggestions and comments, as always, greatly appreciated!

Lorinery is an immensely complex subject. You really need to talk to an expert. You could try your local tack shop - but they seldom have a bitting expert either unless they are really huge. I would reccommend soemthing like the Bit Bank - you can talk to an expert over the phone and then rent the bit for a month to try. Saves you a fortune in buying expensive bits which don't work!
