Hi,
I currently have a N reg discovery that has seen better days (a lot better days), and it is quite difficult to drive with a trailer with no break or handbreak so a new car is on the cards.
We have looked at Discovery's but we want the new shape discovery.
Has anyone got as Discovery 3- and what do you think from a horsey trailer pulling point of view (car review websites a useless at this sort of thing)
And Some goes for a Discovery 4????
We looked at other cars but land rovers have a larger towing capacity.
(Towing an Ifor Williams 510 with a heavy metal floor and 2 large horses so need a biiiggg towing capacity!)
Any comments, reviews, suggestions?

I have a discovery 3 and you can hardly tell you have anything attached when pulling a 505 with 750 kg in..... I haven't towed a bigger trailer, or with more in it, but I wouldnt think it would cause it any problems at all!

..however, I have had several 'issues' with the doors (getting stuck) and the boot (cable snapping)....and Land Rover customer service doesn't really exist IME!!!

Touch wood, mechanically, I have never had an issue (though my car is booked in to have £800 worth of work done next week and it is only 4!).....

We have a discovery 3 and my hubby swears by it, he uses it to tow all the time, he has a massive box trailer that he uses for his race car and you can't even tell its towing it. He even once towed a 7.5 tonne lorry! Poor car :-(! It was also fab in all the snow we had earlier this year, he went on several rescue missions, even towed an ambulance (complete with v. ill elderly lady) up a really steep hill that it was stuck on. We've had no mehcanical problems at all, its 2 years old now. We love it. I have a Range Rover and I'd happily swap with him anyday!

We have a 5yo Discovery 3 and we love it, it has been so reliable is great to tow with was used to rescue all sorts in the snow and have never had a problem but for servicing we use Stratstone Landrover (a bit further than the closest dealer but needs must) and their servicing has been second to none!

Ive got a Discovery 3 - no probs towing a 511 with two horses in, and I've just started using it to pull a treble trailer with one horse and two ponies on board, no probs at all.
