:(Hi to all you mare owners out there and those that have had the good fortune or otherwise, to of worked with and to of known them;).

Yes, I saw some of this last year. This year though my mare seemed fine. she's been having her suppliments, we were hacking out every day and having a ball and I was even patting myself on the back, when whoosh!!! All of a sudden she can't stand to be away from the field and the fellas.
So, in your experiece, just how nuts they can they go in the spring? Or,can anyone tell me just how obsessed they can be about boys, at becoming a bride and then having babies?
And please, just how long will this insanity last as I'm fed up with her already. It's about all she has done for the last week or so, to stand at the fence and gaze all goo eyed across the paddocks at some poorly looking and long past it, knock kneed, and arthritic old godger who smells like he could do with a good wash:eek:(gelding not fella:p).

I have given her time off as it's just not worth the arguments and she's a sensitive mare who is offended easily. Now I'm left wondering if I'll ever ride or even groom her again!! Aparently she no longer loves me, the sun shines out of someone else who never washes and I am totally surpless to requirements:confused:
Grrrrrrrr.......don't you just love em!!!!:D

PMSL! Mine is in season just now as well and has fallen for a chroniclly lame ex racehorse in the next field. How did they ever survive as a species with such poor taste in fellas?

Ha ha, made me laugh. Our mare is a pretty girly and she knows it, princess is the world that springs to mind. However, every spring she falls totally head over heals with my cob, who is a Phil Mitchell look-alike (shaven- hogged, thickset with an attitude, but loves his mum ....). Never mind he is 17 years old and a gelding, she squeals and squirts at him. Makes his day!!!

LOL! I WANT my mare to come in season, as I am planning for her to have a foal! BUT sods law, usually she is an absolute tart, so now she is actually going to meet a husband, she's not interested at all! grrrrr!!!

Mine has been banned form the field, her companion ancient shettie has been subjected to awful behaviour and had to be rescued from her!!! She has been in for 24hours now and will stay in until tomorrow afternoon until I return from collecting my retired mare from her field. Don't you just love 'em? xxx

Luckily Lace goes for the good looking tb's but she's being a real pain at the moment, she's having lots of her "naomi" moments (We call them Naomi moments because she's got long legs, is gorgeous but can be a right moody diva at times, but luckily doesn't throw mobile phones at people) ;)
