Yep def try them on. Last time I bought jodphurs I tried on four pairs, fifth pair I knew they were the ones as I fastened them up. I didn't know I had em on! Hoping to do the same with hat and long boots soon....

Jods have too much material at the bottom to wear with chaps, so you'll need breeches with both.
Personally, I prefer chaps and paddock boots. More movement and comfort.

I had boots and chaps with jodhs for nearly a year, then accidentally bought some breeches and found them more comfy so had those with long socks lol.

Bought a pair of Bromonts last month, and haven't looked back!! They're SO comfy and look really smart too- plus they come up really far and are fla flattering fit (for my chunky thighs at least!)

Break the mould - wear jods and long boots (shock horror!).

That's what I do ;) jods are cheaper so I have them for everyday. Don't have an issue with 'too much material' around the ankle.

I wear Mountain Horse High Rider II boots for everyday.

Horses for courses. Whatevers comfiest for YOU.

Having chunky calves and wide feet but narrow ankles and heels I seem to end up wearing extra socks in my long boots to reduce volume. That said boots bought on line and are now a little big for me...
