When I started horse hunting, my 'dream' horse was something tall and sporty, though pretty much been-there,done-that.

But everything that I like enough to enquire about is 15hh or less..

I'm 5'7" and 11 stone, anyone else willing to share??

Thanks :) x

I having the same thing right now, i was looking for something bigger and have fallen in love with a horse who is 15hh and seriously considering getting her, i am same height and weight as you. I thought i would feel massive on her and i don't at all.
I don't think big horses are necessarily better some of the nicest horses i have ever sat on have been 15hh ish.
The horse i am considering feels much bigger than she is when i am on her.

I'm 5ft7 and 11 stone. My mare when I got her was 14.3hh, although now is 15.1hh. All I can say is choose something you feel comfy on, don't go for something skinny with your feet dangling round it's knees. My girl is quite chunky (although is half tb, you wouldn't guess her width unless you sat on her) so takes up my leg quite well, she's also got a deep girth. Something to consider when looking around. :)

I was 5.6 and varied between 9 1/2 and 11 at times, my mare was 15.1 and a dainty frame... I'd be happy on a 14.2 upwards... I'm more rigid on 9 1/2 to 10 stone now, but it all depends on the horse.

I'm 5'7" ish and approx 65kg

Boyo is a full up 14.3hh

We just hack tho we'll hopefully be popping a few jumps in the school this summer

I'm 5'7 and a bit, weigh around 10-11 stone and look silly on anything below 15.2hh. I do have long legs. Would love a pony but settled on a 16.1-2hh pony instead.

no-sorry I win:D:D

I am 5ft10 and ride a 14.2hh credit card like trotter

I was just reading Klaus hempflings dancing with horses and he said the perfect height of horse for a 5ft7 person is between 13.3-14.3

I'm 5ft 7, just under 11 stone my girl is going to hopefully mature 14.1 maybe 14.2. I hope I won't look too big but I ride a 13.3 and look and feel absolutely fine on him.

I'm 5'7" and approx 9 stone I have a 14.2hh Arab and we have been fine together for 15 years, I don't feel big on him until I ride my sisters 17hh warmblood and everyone remarks how well we look together size wise , so have went out and bought myself a baby to mature approx 16.3hh !!

I'm 5"8 and 8 stone, my mare is 15.1hh, we do a lot of dressage, never had the comment that I'm too tall or we look wrong.

I'm 5'7, about 9st2, my mare is a 15.2 TB and although I don't feel too tall on her I think I look too tall (though everyone tells me I don't!) :)

Jockey is 5'8", 10st, 10lbs and pony is a 13.3hh fell, we have no problem, it's up to you how you feel on the horse at the end of the day.

I'm not particularly tall at 5'6, but have quite a long body compared to my legs...

My last cob was a heavy gypsy at 14.3. I loved that I could get on easily (and it wasn't too far to get off either!) He took up my leg well, but I always felt that in head-on pics, I looked like there was a bit too much of me above him... Had quite a low head carriage though.

My new cob is about 15.1, and I think is a good height for me. I'm not quite stretchy enough to get from the ground easily (better for his back anyway ) I think he's a perfect height - there's enough of him that I look in proportion, he's big enough to take friends/instructors who are taller (and my weight ), and little enough that friend's kids can have a go :)

I'm similar to you and I've a 14.2hh highland. She's great fun and I don't miss having a "big" horse at all.
I've started pottering on a 15hh welsh D X TB and he's lovely - I probably suit him better for my leg length but no issues with my short legged pony.

If you find one you really like and he/she's smaller than you expected, I would go for it.

I ride a 14.1 cob and I'm about 5'7- feel fine on him. We're both still growing though!
Pines of Rome, your pic isn't working for me?

I think loads of people seem to want bigger horses than they need... I'm 5'3 and my 15'2 tb I think is really the perfect size, but I also ended up with a 16'2 knabstupper, who is far bigger than I need!
rode my friends arab cross today, who felt tiny, as fine and max of 14 hands I think, but actually didn't feel that small, just different. I quite like riding ponies actually.
occasionally you do see some people who look a little big, not necessarily weight wise, just legs dangling down!

ditto this

as I said I am 5ft10 with5ft7 size legs but REALLY long body !!

ahh but who really cares , the height of you compared to your horse should never affect things ( unless you are like 6ft in a 11hh :p)
it weight that really counts !!
