My new horse (6 months) has been diagnosed with a bad case of tapeworm. He had many small episodes of what I eventually realised was colic. He would swish his tail violently and stamp his back feet and kick at his stomach though only for about a minute at a time so easy to mistake for a fly. He was also very reluctant to go forward, possibly as his tummy was sore! Having had a blood test to confirm the worms we have wormed with a different wormer (He had been done on arrival actually with a tapeworm dose) and is now having some time off over christmas to recover. I am really hoping he starts back in the new year a different horse. has anyone out there had a similar experience and were there any lasting problems?
