Thanks to everyone who looked in at my question about 'where is he this season'. The eventing winner at the 4 Star at Pau and other events is seemingly back at work, gently, on July 31st in Brittany: Pro 1 Preparatorie with his usual rider Nicolas Touzaint.

So he lives. Something must have happened to him since October 2008. I feared he had died, seeing that no events at all had been scheduled for him this season. But where is Joker d'Helby?

Language is really a terrible barrier and so is distance even with the wonderful 'net.

None the less, I am truly puzzeled as to why British riders and fans do not know about the trials and tribulations of riders like Nico Touzaint. He appears to be a great guy and remarkable trainer, rider, and more. His problems should be common among horseman.

If I in Texas can track careers and horses on-line in Europe, what is happening to the sport in Britain? If no one knows what has happened to a great horse like Tatchou.

I guess its levels of interest? We are all fascinated by British team and could reel off facts about all team GB but I could not tell you if Jean Lou Bigot (Sp??)is riding better than ever, if Nicholas Touziant has some incredible 2* horses or what the German team strength of depth is like. I guess if I was more interested I could look it up but I guess until it gets to Euros, worlds or Olympics I do not see them on a daily basis when I am competing myself so out of sight out of mind!

tbh, granfan, unless these riders have a website and update it regularly, or one happens to be a friend of theirs, or a friend of a friend, or there is real widespread gossip about them, there is no way we can know!
e.g. Tamarillo hasn't been out all season, after winning Burghley last year, and starts this weekend at an OI. I have no idea why he hasn't been out - injured? being saved for the big ones? WFP having too many others at 4* level anyway (can only ride 2 at any one event)? no idea!
there are so many good horses out there that disappear without a trace, and it is impossible to keep track of the ones competing, let alone not!

Nicholas always seems to have injuries-and joker d'helby hasn't done a 3* has he? Where is Galan also??

Joker d'helby hasn't done anything since October, no idea why. Galan must be fine by now, he was entered at Sandillon in the grand national 2 weeks ago but didn't run for some reason
