tax on horses

what do people think of the proposed tax of £10.50 per horse that was stated in newspaper yesterday?

I signed a petition against it. Just another example of the government meddling. I bet it costs nearly as much to collect as we will end up paying.

Passports only happened because most of us are honest and paid up. Horse tax will be the same. The "dids" will still not pay, the rest of us just will cos we're honest. It's all down to a government desperate to get money any which way they can....And. of course it'll be another stealth tax that will increase over the years....
Maybe we should all stick together like the French do, if they dislike something, and refuse to do it. they can't throw all in prison.

I dont get it? Have i missed something? are we being taxed if we own horses??? like we have to pay car tax? if thats the case I want to see something for my money....they'll have to open off road hacking right at my door otherwise how can they warrant charging?

or have i got the wrong end of the stick?!

Holly P you haven't got the wrong end of the stick at all. There will be a tax on each horse. The worry is that although it is starting as a low amount it could increase a great deal.
