In the future i would like to breed from my 17hh Holstiner mare. She is excellent in all three phases and i hope to do advanced on her eventually. I would like a foal from her and i would prefer the sire to be full TB as the only criticism i have of her is that she is a WB and perhaps may need a little more blood in her for although she covers the ground and is still quite sharp, she may need more TB in her for endurence when she gets to the bigger tracks.
As im serious about eventing i would like a stallion who has advanced/4* progeny. who would you reccomend? links please if poss

Also does anyone have any idea on the cost of an embryo transplant? i know it wont be cheep, but i'm already saving my pennies!!!lol

Have a look at the British Eventing website as they have a list of the top 50 event sires and also the top 50 sires with progeny competing in 2007 it should give you an idea of who to go for. Although they are not all Thoroughbred.

Both Louella and Welton studs have success with their sires producing event stock they might suggest a suitable stallion and give you an idea of the cost of embryo transplants.

Hope that helps you a little bit.

I have a Holstein x TB advanced event mare, but to look at her you would swear she was 100% Holstein. Really big powerful mare, used to cope fine XC as she has a real ground covering stride. However I'm also looking at stallions with plenty of tB blood for her as she does through big powerful foals and we need to neaten her up and avoid breeding a big lump but without sacrificing her jump and bold attitude.
Top fo my list at the moment is Jaguar Mail, plenty of sporthorse TB blood, he himself is an international show jumper and although not an eventer himself is attracting a lot of big name advanced mares so will have eventing bred stock out there soon.

If you look on SHB(GB) site you will find a list of Graded stallions, some of them are TB and event stallions. Alot of the good TB stallions that have produced 3/4 star stock are no longer with us but there might be some frozen available.
There are a few threads on here already with listings of promising event stallions. For you I think you are right in looking for TB blood and being a tall mare not too big. My own boy Weston Justice went clear 3 star but his stock are only just coming into work and although proving very trainable we dont know how talented yet. (fingers crossed)
