Off the top of my head, Bandmaster is pretty current and not doing badly down here for show horses, eventers and racehorses!
before him, Shaab! has had many top eventers, show horses, and the odd racehorse.
But they are both SouthWest based, not sure about up your end!
Criminal Law (he's up your way??) i'm riding a mare by him at the mo.. he's TB but mostly gets sports horses??
Bandmaster, I have a baby by My Eclipse (my little un' has a cracking temperament, she's bold, moves well, good jump...... and has wonky legs which I've heard M E throws occasionally and the care my mare and foal recieved, or didn't recieve while back at stud, means I wouldn't reccomed him! However M E's sire Shaab has thrown some cracking stock......but he's dead.
If you're looking at dead sires then Hill Farmer was very good for event stock, also Colman (RID) had a lot of decent graded SJs as have his sons Embla Statesman and Maurice Minor.
I think Looking Glass has had his fair share also Arkan and Dervish too. Hipo Hu has had a lot of good stock, don't know if he's still going though, also there's one that the Gethins used to stand in mid Wales but his name has gone! (I haven't gone mad, some of those mentioned are still covering!)
Of present day sires, Kings Composer is getting some lovely stock and I hope they can fly the flag for him.
There are lots of eventing sires out there; the welton horses, Jumbo, the Scott's useful horses to name just a few.
Whoops! Just twigged you wanted TBs - so Hill Farmer, Looking Glass, Arkan, Dervish and Hipu Hu come in that bracket! Some of the SHB graded stallions have done a good job producing competition stock too.
Special Addition is also worth a look he did event & is by Nickel King who also sired King William & Prince Panache. This sire has a fab temperment but is only 15.3hh contact Michaela Pulman 01442 831181 michaelaryde@hotmail.com. To my knowledge this is the only Nickel King son standing at stud.
